Global air shipments have increased by 3,8% in 2016 and Italian fruit & vegetable industry aligns to this trend, which will lead to new opportunities for Italian exporters and increasingly demanding global markets.
NCX Drahorad is focused on developing its business activity in this top-class (both for quality and service) branch as well.
Demand from Middle East, South America, Asia and North America is increasing.
- Dubai is the Middle East hub where most of the produce is received and packed for Persian Gulf countries (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, etc..). Supermarkets are major players in Italian produce’s demand, in particular for tomatoes, peaches and nectarines, apricots, plums, blueberries, seedless grapes, fresh-cut salads, organic products.
- Hong Kong is the main platform in China and Asia. Italian produce is appreciated in Malesia, Singapore and Asia in general, even though there are still import restrictions in some countries.
- São Paulo is the main logistic and distribution centre in Brazil, a market with more than 200 million inhabitants. Despite the hard financial crisis, it is still an important market with a great interest in perishable summer products to be shipped via air: cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums.
- USA and Canada are receptive markets with demanding consumers, where air shipment can guarantee a higher produce quality than sea freight.
- India: the global market with the fastest economic growth is still suffering from poor logistics, especially for perishable produce. Air freight to major marketplaces (Delhi and Mumbai in particular), helps bring on the Indian market top quality and highly perishable produce in the best conditions.
Air export competitiveness is strongly connected to freight cost. The logistic department of NCX Drahorad specializes in finding the best solution in order to match shipments and optimize the cargo by weight/volume.
Italy can offer a wide range of high quality products including peaches, nectarines, apricots, berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries), plums, seedless mini watermelons, seedless grapes, specialty tomatoes, golden kiwifruit, fresh-cut salads.
This is a challenge that Italian suppliers are facing with great resolution in order to meet global demand for quality and freshness, relying on the “Italy” brand which is synonym of unique taste, flavour, lands and traditions all over the world.
